Faith Is Holding On
Faith Is Holding On – Pastor Kim – 11th Oct’16

The scope of the promises of God and our trust in them is vast and not something to be lightly grasped.  Faith works through the complexities of lives in a fallen world and relies completely on our holding fast to the faithful Word in everything for more of God to be revealed.  Unless we are seeing more of the Lord – unless we are growing closer in a relationship with Him, we’re never going to be faithful in holding on.  Exercising the muscle of faith against the trials  and tests of life forges this relationship – heart focus and understanding of God’s way.

Luke 18:8 … when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?
Romans 1:17  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

We are to  walk totally by faith in God, that is relying each day – each second on His character, faithfulness and love endorsed in the Word of God.  That is the way we please God and are justified.  ‘Holding on’ allows the Holy Spirit to do this deep work in our lives.  The principle of our walk  is that we decrease and He increases – preserved and kept and nourished by the life of Christ that now lives in and through us.

Psalm 119
89 Forever, O Lord,Your word is settled in heaven.
90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
You established the earth, and it abides.

Every breath I take is a gift and is because of Him.  Faith is the energy that animates me – I stand by faith

There is no  beginning or end to this faith, it is a gift given to each of us, it is God’s faith.  It is sad but the bible shows that in the End Times there will be very little faith.  God’s House is laid waste because people are not devoted to building it, they are too interested in their own lives.  There is no cross preached today, everything stems from the cross that we are to take up in order to follow the Lord – in order to hold on believing it is necessary to let go of self in exchange for a close relationship with Jesus.

Hebrews 12:2  looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Romans 11:20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear.

Faith is trusting the Word of God and the life that lives within me – which is the Lord Jesus Christ.  This has nothing to do with how I feel but is based on what Jesus says over my life.  Thank God that He has spoken His Word over my life – we  walk by faith and not by sight.  We still at times have a problem with this because it means that God doesn’t want to use anything of me – just a yielded vessel led by the Holy Spirit.  The Jesus disciple is letting go of his/her life in order to learn God’s way – it’s no good trying to understand in the intellect emotions or feelings.  The humble and lowly simply  hold on for revelation of God’s mind, following Jesus’ example by yielding completely to the Father in all situations.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight.We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
John 8:28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.
