disciple meaning

The title today is ‘If We Desire Gods Love Then His Word Will Be Perfected In Us’. We hearmuch about Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing the Word but we’re also told that our faith worketh by love. If we desire to have a strong faith, a faith that you are hearing in your heart then it has to come by God’s love. You can’t separate any of this, and this of course again where allot of the faith teaching fell down short. They wanted the Word and they were very hot on the fact that faith comes by the Word of God and reading the Word of God which which indeed it does, but they failed to see that none of this can be accomplished accept this is done by God’s love, and desiring that love and walking in that love.

We’re going to base this today from 1John chapter2 verse5, and really what John is speaking about in this epistle is all in the context of fellowship, it is fellowshiping with God … also dealing with exposing our sin – our weaknesses, that we keep short accounts with God; if we sin we don’t dally or delay – we get our weaknesses covered by the blood of Jesus. It’s continuing this fellowship with God for a purpose because without that fellowship we do not draw from the chords of love which is God Himself. If you are not keeping in that fellowship and walking in that love the Word of God is not doing you any good.

…You may sit under a message like this for years but unless you have really seen the key to this which is the love of God – walking in that love then this Word is not really going to do you any good. I don’t care how much you know and how much you can quote the scriptures, and many can, unless you are fulfilling that basic principal – the key the root to all of this then the Word is not really going to perfect us, and I want to show this.

John brings this out in 1John ch2 v5 which we’re looking at today. He says here:

5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

So it brings it into that practical everyday walk as a Christian believer that we are to be in Christ. You see the Gospels and the Epistles are in many ways so practical, in many ways so simple, and that’s why religious man misses it…..You cannot keep His Word unless you love God, you see the love of God is the basis to this…God’s love in us reveals that we keep his Word. You can’t keep His Word unless you have the love of God, you can’t separate any of it….
