In This World We Are Called To Be Lights

In This World We Are Called To Be Lights

This lights that we’re called to be is the light that lives in us, the Godhead who lives in us, that is the Light.  It’s not our mere light but it’s the light that we have of the new birth – being joined to the Lord Jesus Christ the Light Of The World.

Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

The light that shines through us is also very practical, our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is producing those works of faith.  Many are trying to do good works to show that they are Christian and walk with God, but that is not how it works.  Good works are a result of faith – our belief in Jesus and being born again, that is where the light shines.

We know that Jesus calls Himself ‘The Light Of The World’ and so disciples are also called to be lights

Philippians 2:15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

That is quite a working of the Holy Spirit is it not, that He can and will work that through our everyday lives that we may be blameless as lights.  That again can only be by the empowerment of the baptism of the Holy Spirit that can work such a walk in your life and my life.

Why is there emphasis on this, well simply because Satan is the Accuser Of The Brethren, in the Authorised Version he is called Slanderer.  We all know the story of Job where he’s always trying to find fault with us.  He is there to present before God your failings and faults.  Thank God that that we are washed and redeemed by the Blood Of The Lamb… which keeps us standing before God righteous and in boldness.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

That is the calling in these last days for God’s people.  Are we lights in this world?  So much of Christendom reflects the world – worldly and shallow,  to so many Christians it doesn’t seem to be a problem that the church isn’t that light that it should be in the world.  If we are concerned about this then we  look to our selves and say ‘start with me Lord’, – that is how churches change…
