Have The Confidence To Ask
..Here it is – we’re without excuse. We have the confidence that we ask the Lord to help us to watch and pray. And He’s going to do it – He’ll work on your behalf. This was what Jesus was trying to challenge the disciples with in the Garden of Gethsemane..
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. Matthew 26:36
And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Matthew 26:37
Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. Matthew 26:38
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Matthew 26:39
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Matthew 26:40
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. Matthew 26:42

..Did any of them ask the Lord – ‘ Lord we’re sleepy – we don’t want to sleep, we want to stand with you pray with you, we want to encourage you. Please help us. ‘ Did any of them ask? No they didn’t. And we do exactly the same. We ask amiss – we’re asking often for the wrong things – for self, my blessings – what I want instead of standing with The Lord.
Are We Standing With Jesus ?
Our watching and praying is standing with Jesus because Jesus doesn’t want any left behind. He wants all to go up in the rapture, that is His hearts desire. But we know the parable of the ten virgins – the five wise and the five foolish. They are the facts. The foolish don’t have that extra vessel of oil because they were not watchful. They weren’t praying, they weren’t asking for the right things.
We’re still too often asking for worldly things. ‘ Lord I need that money at the end of the month – the bills are coming. ‘ The Lord says ‘ that’s not the asking I’m asking of you. ‘
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
‘ There things far more important I want you to be concerned about. I want you to ask for things that are really important. I really want you to understand – to watch and pray. That’s far more important than you being worried about your bills being payed.. .. ‘
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2Corinthians 2:11
