Stop Pretending

My Love For God

.. This is a challenging subject – ‘ My Love For God ‘ – it challenged me. But then we need that because that stops us pretending. It stops us from living in denial which so many professing Christians do. We’ve done or we may still be doing it.. He has overcome the world, He has gone before and prepared the way. All He has asked of us is ‘ keep your eyes twenty four seven on me. ‘ The Word challenges us from cover to cover to keep our eyes on Him and He will be faithful to bring us through no matter how much our faith is challenged. And it is. It has to be challenged because faith is like a spiritual muscle, and like all muscles it has to be used.

Self Gets In The Way

We are seeing then that God’s love is worked in us when we settle this walk because then self gets out of the way. That is always the big problem – it is self getting in the way. When we get self out of the way then we experience that God is a miracle working God. My life your life is a miracle because it cannot happen otherwise. That is what encourages us, that is what makes us go on because God our Father is a miracle working God. I don’t know how He does it, I don’t know how He changes these hearts of stone to hearts of flesh. All I know is He does and He is doing.

No Desires Above God

This is our spiritual manna that we feed from in order to be kept spiritually well and healthy. You see the Spirit will not work through you to the degree that He wants to work if there is no cross in your life. We know what the cross does – let’s remind ourselves again – it puts the self life to death. Daily I die, that means me – what I want, my planning, my scheming, my desires above God. When the cross is settled then you can look at your love for God. You will begin to blossom grow and mature. That’s what it does.. .. ..

Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Exodus 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
2John 6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
1John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1Thessalonians 1:2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
Psalm 97:10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
