Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a free woman. Galatians 4:21,22
But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the free woman through promise, which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— Galatians 4:23,24
for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— 26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. Galatians 4:25,26
For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear! Break forth and shout, You who are not in labour! For the desolate has many more children Than she who has a husband.” Galatians 4:27
Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. Galatians 4:28,29
Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free. Galatians 4:30,31
From The Natural To The Spiritual
.. And so as believers who are no longer in the natural, we find ourselves in this conflict. Paul here is not dealing with sin, he’s dealing with the natural and the spiritual…You cannot worship God in spirit and truth in the carnal…you will fall away because there is someone stronger who will deceive you.
…The natural must be turned into the spiritual..which requires sacrifice…Ishmael [natural] and Isaac [spiritual]…The natural and the spiritual do not mix, so in the end something has to be done in order for change … the natural had to be dealt with first … there always has to come a separation to make you spiritual … the carnal had to be put into the wilderness for sacrifice to take place … in the wilderness you see the provision of God …
… When God created Adam and Eve they were not spiritual … He was going to [make them spiritual] by obedience … He still does it … Churches are filled with people coming and going to God … looking to the law not looking to the one who redeemed them .. resides within them and wants to take over … to do that you’ve got to go to the wilderness … the wilderness is that transitional place, you cannot change unless it’s the wilderness … God is getting us to obey …
… When they came to take Him away Christ had already won the victory in prayer .. Gethsemane … where he sweat drops of blood accepting the Fathers will … everything we’re going to do in obedience will not come by you in the natural, it comes by the spiritual and prayer makes us spiritual …
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2
