Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James 5:17,18
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
..So, here we get a real insight into our confidence in prayer. God wants us to have confidence when we come into His presence. In fact we are told in the scriptures to come boldly into His presence.. There is a reason for all of this.. it’s revealing that we stand right before Him. There is no obstacle in the way of our standing with God.. our prayers and intercessions.
Boldness And Confession Go Together
The enemy always wants to throw obstacles in the way and he’s going to attack particularly with your prayer life. He doesn’t like the church praying and we can see why in verses seventeen and eighteen:
..What authority this man had with regard to prayer! It was because he stood upright before The Lord.. a man like us.. yet there was something about Elijah with regard to prayer.. he was a man who confessed his weaknesses – his faults before God.
Prayer Is A Way Of Life
..Likewise we’re encouraged to pray.. confess.. that obstacles.. may be removed. That we may have this effective fervent prayer being righteous that avails much before Almighty God. So there is a stand and a confidence one can have before God that is to be experienced. So we’re aware that our prayers are prevailing.. going before the mercy seat of God. Not just Elijah or some other brother of sister that’s good at praying..
Prayer should be a way of life for the believer.. There is something within the new nature that wants to talk with your heavenly Father.. like breathing.. You confess your faults and trespasses not only to one another but to God also. In other words you are so sensitive and mindful that you want nothing hindering your prayers before God.. ..
