John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
..That is the witness you see. He’s speaking to us – He’s going to show us things that are to come. Why is it ‘ things to come ‘? It’s because He’s also the God of today – now. You and I we need to hear Him speak today and of what is also coming. ‘ Our Witness To The Spirit. ‘
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:14
All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:15
There is the witness of the Spirit. It is a declaration – He is speaking to us. But we know all of that of course takes time. We’re all growing and maturing – a work in progress..
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: Revelation 12:1
And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. Revelation 12:2
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. Revelation 12:5
The God Of Today
..He cannot tell us everything straight away – we couldn’t bare it. But as we develop mature and grow through our trials so then He’s able to speak to us – that witness of the Spirit at the right time. This is why I said earlier – so often it’s like our eyes and ears and hearts have suddenly been opened. ‘ where have I been all these years? Why is it now suddenly I can understand and see? ‘ Because that was the right time for you to be able to see. It wasn’t right yesterday or last week or last year. It’s right today – now! Because He’s the God of today – now also.
He’s not only the God of the past or the future. He’s alive today now. We need to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church – today! It’s vital, and that is why He gives us the witness of the Spirit in order to be able to hear that.
Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Walking In Fellowship With God
..He has sent His Spirit, He has made His abode in you for the purpose that you can have the witness of the Spirit. This is why you have to witness what He’s saying. God will not let you witness that which is contrary to His Word of Will. We’ve all tried to do what we want to do in our own way. But you don’t get the witness to that. This is why our faith – our believing in the promises of God’s Word has to be witnessed to. Faith has to be witnessed in the heart, it isn’t just in the head intellectually.
That is what He’s teaching us. We walk by faith each day because of what is in the heart – what we witness to. We cannot walk by faith each day with what is intellectually in our heads. If you do then you are just religious and you don’t really know God. Our faith has to bring us into a personal experience and relationship with God . In other words you know when He’s present, you know when He’s speaking.. how He’s feeling today.. His concerns..
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: Job 19:25
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Job 19:26
..In his trials Job experienced God in a profound way. That is why we go through our trials and tribulations – because it is so instrumental for our witness to the Spirit.. ..
And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; Deuteronomy 30:2
Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
