look at verses 22 to 24 so that we can get the context of what Jesus is saying here. It’s in the context of where He’s speaking about the work of the Holy Spirit .. how he is going to the cross – that He is going away but that He will .. return. Even thought they will have sorrow their sorrow will be turned to joy
John 16:22-24
22 Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
23 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
Many teachings on this, there are some who teach it right as the Holy Spirit inspires and there are others who are teaching this wrongly, and it creates confusion, disappointment despondency and all the rest. But the purity of God’s Word is deliverance and we trust tonight that we’re here to be delivered changed and conformed yet more to the likeness of Jesus.
I’m calling this teaching tonight ‘You Will Receive’. In verse 23 the key part of this is
‘And in that day you will ask Me nothing’
The question we raise tonight is ‘when is that day?’.. Is that day when you are born again, when you become a new creation; is that day when you receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the sign of speaking in tongues, or is it when you are getting the Word in .. your heart, that is of course the parable of the sower. Is that day when you get a better prayer life .. getting closer to the Lord, or is that day when you are finally resisting the powers of darkness .. or is it the day when I am consecrated – really set apart to the Lord .. walking in His likeness .. Is it when I’m finally at that place when I can love .. my enemy .. who in the natural I detest. Is it labouring in the vineyard – when is that day?
.. This is something that is not addressed very often as far as I’m aware. I believe [that day] is when The Lord makes us one with the Father – Jesus’ prayer – John 17. That prayer is being fulfilled, that prayer will be answered because Jesus prayed it,

and I believe we are in restoration – the [finalising] of Jesus’ prayer. That prayer has echoed through every generation .. the Father has not turned His ears away from that prayer ..I believe that prayer is an indication and a sign of how the Bride makes herself ready in these last days .. ..
