Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Matthew 7:13
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:14
..To wait on God, to get that sensitivity in the Spirit. To know how the Spirit is leading – whether individually or corporately. You see the Broad Way doesn’t present that.. because it’s big. You can see so much of it – it doesn’t take a lot of discerning. It all looks very nice – very appealing – very warm comforting and jolly – just how the enemy works. But you see very often the Broad Way if we don’t watch it is already within our hearts. You will often find where the Broadway is there your heart will be. Those who profess the Lord Jesus Christ as their saviour who are preferring the Broad Way instead of the Narrow Way – what accompanies that is pride and unbelief. And there is the problem. They have not gone through the Narrow Way. ‘ The Way To God Is Through The Narrow Way. ‘
Human Nature Resists The Narrow Way
They don’t seek the Narrow Way in which to get that deliverance – to get that pride and unbelief out of their hearts. The Broad Way is so much easier. The Children of Israel had problems with God in the wilderness because their hearts wanted the Broad Way. And when they couldn’t get the Broad Way they complained griped and moaned. They wanted to stone Moses and raise up another leader. God was trying to get the world – Egypt out of their heart and she wouldn’t have it. What was the problem – it was pride resisting all the time. And God has to do the same with us. It’s no different – human nature doesn’t change. Nothing new under the sun.
There Is No Choice
Very often when we want the Broad Way it’s because we’re not dealing with unbelief – those weaknesses in our life. We’re too afraid to face our spiritual giants. It’s so easy to give in to them. It’s so easy to bury our heads in the sand – pretend and go through the motions. But you see God won’t let us do that. He presents to us these to ways – either the Broad Way of the Narrow Way. Well you know if you have settled it as a disciple of Christ – your hands are to the plough and you’re walking daily taking up your cross – there’s no other option. There is no choice.
